People of Tbilisi
Walking through Tbilisi’s tangled old town, I spent three weeks approaching strangers in courtyards, markets, and tea houses, asking if I could photograph them where they stood. I worked entirely with natural light — the city’s golden afternoon sun and the deep shadow of its narrow balconied streets became my studio. Most of my subjects spoke no English and I spoke no Georgian, so everything was communicated through gesture, patience, and the moment someone finally relaxed and forgot about the camera. What emerged was a portrait of a city that feels both ancient and restless, carried in the faces of the people who call it home.
