People of Prague

I came to Prague in November, when the tourist crowds thin and the city settles back into itself, and I spent my mornings at tram stops, bakeries, and the edges of local markets. I chose to shoot on medium format film, which slowed me down deliberately — each frame cost something, so I only pressed the shutter when I was certain. The cold light of Central European autumn gave every portrait a quiet, interior quality that I hadn’t planned for but came to love. Prague gave me people who were guarded at first and generous once they understood what I was trying to do.
